Project MinE UK: More than 1,800 DNA profiles sequencedProject MinE UK has now reached 87% of the donations needed for sequencing DNA-profiles. More than 1,800 DNA samples have been or are currently being sequenced. This progress is thanks to many donations to the MND Association.

The labs of our UK partners have already started preparing another 384 batches for whole genome sequencing, i.e. reading every single letter of the DNA-profile. This new milestone results in the total 1,851 DNA profiles with sequencing data available. The aim for the UK is to have 2,000 samples. These concern DNA profiles of ALS/ MND patients as well as healthy control persons.

Every dollar/ euro will be spent on sequencing DNA profiles to search for the genetic causes of ALS. Please donate to help us speed up the search for treatments of ALS.

With this new batch included, more than 9,000 DNA profiles will be sequenced. This is the largest whole genome sequencing dataset that has ever been available for ALS research! This worldwide genetic research aims to find new therapeutic targets for better treatments of ALS/ MND.

A big thanks to the MND Association!
